Meet the Makers – Carleigh

November 2019

From Ontario to Huntingdale in Melbourne, here is Carleigh’s story…

Carleigh had quite a journey to get to the point of joining TIDE in 2016.

Born in Ontario, Canada, she travelled far and wide before making a new home in Fitzroy, Melbourne.

With a degree in Environment Geography and Urban Planning already under her belt, Carleigh discovered a desire to work with her hands through various projects at home – with plenty of support and encouragement from friends and family.

This culminated in undertaking and gaining a Certificate 4 in Furniture Design and Technolgy at Holmes Glen Tafe – which gave an insight into many aspects of furniture design and making and further fuelled her desire to work with her hands for a living.

As well as making furniture Carleigh has developed a strong skill set in the finishing room where her eye for quality and consistency shines through.

When not making and finishing beautiful timber furniture you’ll find her at the ice hockey rink scrimmaging with the best of them!
